Luton Rising's Fireworks Spectacular is at Popes Meadow on Saturday 7 November 2026, free, listed 5pm to 9pm. Last year the display itself started at 7.30pm.

Luton’s free fireworks display has a date. Luton Rising’s Fireworks Spectacular 2026 is at Popes Meadow on Saturday 7 November, it is free, and the council’s own what’s-on listing gives the event window as 5pm to 9pm (Explore Luton).

Note the day. Bonfire night itself, Thursday 5 November, is a school night this year and the town display is two days after it, on the Saturday. If you are planning around children, that is the whole point of the date.

Everything below was checked on 5 September against Luton Council’s own pages. Where a detail has not been published for 2026 yet, this page says so and gives last year’s figure for scale rather than pretending it is this year’s.

What is confirmed for 2026

  • Date: Saturday 7 November 2026
  • Venue: Popes Meadow, off Old Bedford Road, LU2
  • Listed window: 5pm to 9pm
  • Cost: free, no ticket
  • Organiser: Luton Council, sponsored by Luton Rising, the council’s airport company

That is genuinely all of it. The council’s listing ends with the line “Check here closer to the time for more information”, so the gate time, the time the rockets actually go up, the funfair and the road closure order are all still to come.

What is not confirmed yet

The 2026 listing gives no display time. At the 2025 display, on Saturday 1 November, the gates opened at 6.30pm, the display started at 7.30pm and the event finished at 8.30pm, and there were fairground rides for children plus hot snacks and drinks (Luton Council). The published 5pm to 9pm window for 2026 is wider than that at both ends, which is usually the closure and build window rather than the public one.

Expect the detail in the second half of October. Organisers have to give the council at least six weeks’ notice of an event road closure (Luton Council), so the paperwork for 7 November is already in hand. Last year the closure list was public by 16 October.

Road closures: what happened last year

The 2025 display was on Saturday 1 November, and the council closed a large block of streets around the meadow from 1 to 4 November, 4pm to 9pm each day, rather than for the one night. The roads named were Old Bedford Road from Cromwell Hill to Stockingstone Road, plus Alwyn Close, Bowling Green Lane, Clarendon Road, Cromwell Hill, Earls Meade, Frederick Street, Greenside Park, Havelock Road, Havelock Rise, Knights Field, Mussons Path, Reginald Street, The Wickets, Trowbridge Gardens, Wardown Crescent, Wensleydale and William Street. Diversions were signposted via Stockingstone Road and New Bedford Road, and the parking bays on Old Bedford Road were suspended (Luton Today, 16 October 2025).

Treat that as the shape of it, not as this year’s order. The one thing it tells you reliably is that driving to the meadow does not work: the approach roads are the closed ones, and the residents’ bays are taken out.

Parking, and the £2 nobody expects

The honest advice is to walk, or to park in the town centre and walk up. If you do use a council car park, know the evening rule, because it is the opposite of what people assume: on-street parking is free every evening in every Luton zone except Toddington Road, but the council’s car parks charge £2 from 6pm to 8am, every one of them except Bramingham Road and Sundon Park Road. The full tariff table is on our parking in Luton page.

For anything closing on the roads that week, our Luton roadworks and travel page carries the current National Highways and council closures.

The other Luton display: Marsh Farm

Luton has had a second free display for years, run by Marsh Farm Futures at Lea Manor Fields, and last year it ran on bonfire night itself, 5 November, with Denham Close, Morris Close, Northwell Drive and Wexham Close closed from 4pm to 9pm and a diversion via Stockholm Way, Wauluds Bank Drive and The Moakes (Luton Today). It is a big event when it runs: the organiser put attendance at about 4,500 in 2021 and over 3,500 in 2022 (Marsh Farm Futures).

There is no 2026 announcement. Marsh Farm Futures’ own events calendar currently reads “There are no upcoming events at this time”, and the organisation is still recovering from a fire at Futures House on 12 August 2026. Its update of 4 September says reoccupation of the building will be phased and some areas remain out of bounds (Marsh Farm Futures). That does not mean the display is cancelled, and nobody has said it is, but it does mean you should not assume it until the organiser posts a date.

Is it on this year?

Yes for Popes Meadow, on the council’s own listing, and it is free. Unknown for Marsh Farm. We will update this page when the display time and the closure order are published, which on last year’s timing means the second half of October.
